Trinity Anglican Seminary [Pastoral Theology 995]:  A course for safeguarding our people

This course equips clergy, lay leaders, safeguarding officers, and seminarians within the ACNA to exercise Christian leadership with integrity, accountability, and pastoral wisdom in contexts of power and vulnerability. Participants will learn to recognize and respond to abuse, navigate safeguarding processes, and cultivate ethical cultures within their institutions, utilizing a biblical framework that also considers our Anglican history and canonical structures. The course aims not only to help prevent misconduct, but to form leaders whose exercise of authority reflects the character of Christ—protecting the vulnerable, speaking the truth, and fostering communities of safety and healing, while utilizing discipline primarily as a method of discipleship. 

This course is offered in partnership with The Rev. Dr. Kelley Munger, Director of Safeguarding for the ACNA, and through the support of the Charles Simeon Institute in Tallahassee, FL.

Accommodations & Meals

The course will be held at Grace Anglican Church in Fleming Island, FL, from Monday, August 3 through Friday, August 7. We will begin at 8:45am ET and end at 4:30pm ET, with breaks and lunch during the day.

Fleming Island is a suburb of Jacksonville. If flying, use airport code JAX (or MCO if you'd like to tack on a trip to Disney, which is 2 hours south).

The nearest recommended hotel is the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Fleming Island, an IHG Hotel (1815 E West Pkwy, Fleming Island, FL 32003). 

Lunches will be provided for anyone registered using this page. If you would prefer not to purchase lunches, please email me for a coupon code for registration. Breakfasts are offered at the hotel, and dinners will be on your own (or with your cohort). A list of nearby restaurants will be provided.

Registrant Information

  • This is for anyone who serves in the safeguarding process for their diocese and would like training to be a canonical investigator.

  • This is for any certificate, master's, and doctoral students enrolled at Trinity; registration through Trinity is required as well. This cost is for lunches.

  • If you are a clergy or lay person interested in training but you are not involved in your diocese and you are not enrolled as a Trinity student, you are welcome to join us! Please make this selection.
